Hui, Christopher C. Puente,, Fernando Martin R. Industrial revolution is slowly taking over our modern world nowadays. The need for electrical energy as well as fuel has been a commodity. Nevertheless, power plants are built worldwide in order to compensate for our needs. One of the uprising technologies today that caters to our power needs is Coal Fired Plants. In a nutshell, these plants are efficient in terms of energy production and as well as resources needed to operate it. In the Philippines alone, there are several coal fired power plants built and operational in the present time. This only proves that this technology can satisfy our needs for energy. Operating these plants will inevitably produce by-products. In the previous studies conducted locally, it has been proven that fly ash one of coal's by-products can be used as a natural admixture in a concrete mixture. In addition, bottom ash has been also proven to be useful in concrete mix design. The researchers believe that there by-products produced by this Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler Power Plants can be used in concrete technology. With this, the researchers can incorporate the Coal Bottom Ash in a design mix by partial substitution. Through the course of this study, the researchers have devised a design mix that incorporated several concentration of bottom ash while varying their compressive strength. True enough, their mix design using CFB ash have yielded better strength than that of PC ash. The researchers have obtained compressive results. It was found out that 15MPa mix can accommodate up to 60% substitution of bottom ash and would yield 85.15% of the target strength. While for the 20MPa mix, it was found out that it can incorporate up to 80% substitution, however with the application of bottom ash, it is expected to have a major decrease in strength. Having a high strength concrete design, such as 30MPa and 35MPa can incorporate up to 80% substitution. Much alike, the researchers obtained as less as 3% for both 30MPa and 35MPa. However, in this paper the results were better for 35MPa, as it obtained more than 35MPa even with the application 40% bottom ash. 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11058 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Concrete--Mixing Fluidized-bed combustion Civil Engineering
