Incomio, Frans Joseph Natividad, Timothy John B. Tan, David George P. Information technology is becoming more important for a multitude of enterprises today. As IT provides both benefits and risks to companies alike, governance and management of IT have to be performed well so that enterprises can obtain the best return from their IT. In that regard, the process capability levels of publicly listed commercial banks in the Philippines were assessed using the COBIT 5 framework for IT governance. In addition to the COBIT 5 framework, theories of benchmarking as well as diffusion of innovations were also discussed. In order to perform such assessment, the researchers administered a 37-item survey, one question per process in the COBIT 5 framework, to six publicly-listed commercial banks representing 40 percent of the 15-bank population. Evaluating the results of such surveys led to the determination of the overall maturity score of 2.97, close to 3 or Established. This means that there are already IT processes that are already standardized or defined even as some processes have not yet attained this level. Thus, banks have not yet strictly complied with COBIT 5. In order to reach the next higher level of maturity, where limits to processes are defined and known, improvements can be made to the Evaluate, Direct and Monitor (EDM) and Align, Plan and Organize (APO) domains where the banking industry scores the lowest while also further improving on the other three domains. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11064 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Banks and banking--Philippines--Automation Information technology--Philippines Accounting |
