Description
Summary:Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines Inc. (NCFPI) located at Joshua Center, Taft Avenue Manila, is an non-government organization that aims to provide world class and comprehensive cleft and craniofacial care through their team of competent surgeons, doctors, speech therapist, pediatricians and other professionals. NCFPI provides free consultation and operation to cleft lip and/or palate and craniofacial patients especially to the indigents. The interviews from the executive director, the doctors, surgeons and the volunteers showed that the organization fails to communicate the proper way of taking care of the patients to the guardians which leads to complications, delay in timing and waste of resources and efforts of the organization. The organization also does not have any communication material that can aid the guardians to perform their role in taking care of the patients rather they solely rely on the word of mouth of the doctors and the volunteers. To address the organizational problem, the group proposed a Cleft Care Information Kit that contains (1) A set of visual aids in a form of posters to be used by the volunteer during the orientation on proper cleft care and (2) A cleft parenting booklet to be given to the guardians. These materials aim to provide the guardians with proper knowledge on how to properly take care of a cleft patient, ensure retention of the said information, and in the long run, help achieve better and more proper development of children with cleft lip and/or palate.
