Summary:One of the major causes of traffic congestion in Metro Manila includes loading and unloading passengers almost everywhere. This study aims to determine the impacts of improving the commuter information system on the city bus system, focusing on the SM Southmall Lawton bus route, as a case study. The study conducted an on-board boarding and alighting count of passengers, as well as headway and frequency count of buses during rush hours. Through analysis of the data obtained from these counts, a proposed bus stop system is designed, incorporating the characteristics of the proposed bus stop system identified in the passenger survey. The results of the study that there will be an increase in demand when the improvement are implemented. This implies the need to shorten bus headways by at least 25% to accommodate the anticipated increase in the demand for buses.
