Description
Summary:Philippine Band of Mercy is a non-government organization that provides free medical and surgical support to financially challenged children born with craniofacial deformities. The foundation's mission is to establish its facilities and programs that will help work towards the prevention, treatment and cure of all craniofacial deformities. In order for the organization to continue its advocacy, they depend on the financial support that their donors provide. To be able to do so, the organization should establish credibility and trust towards their stakeholders. However, the communication audit revealed that not all organization donors receives frequent updates and have access to organizational information including annual report, Thus there has been a continuous decline of donations for the past three years as evidently seen in their latest annual report. According to Ms. Benedictors, the executive president of the organization, only large donors receive annual reports due to budget constraints. Also, the researchers have looked into the organization's web based communication channels and found that the organization website is not updated. Given that the organization needs a communication channel that will help them create, maintain, and build a long long term organization-donor relationship at a limited budget, and also a channel wherein the organization can provide easy access to organization information to donors, the researchers have proposed a website development for the organization. The researchers begun by assessing the old website of the organization guided by Kent and Taylors' dialogic principles to see how well the organization utilize its communication channel in promoting good governance in their sector. The result clearly show paths to the improvements of the website consequently the researchers used Kent and Taylors' dialogic principles to develop the new website. The new website creates a two way communication between the organization and its donors. It is a platform wherein timely effective and useful updates are posted. The new website does not only reach large donors but the medium and small donors as well. To see the effectiveness of the website, the researchers have send a survey questionnaire to the current, previous, and potential donors of the organization for them to evaluate how the new organization website rates according to good governance mechanism which are accountability, rule of law, transparency, and responsiveness. The result suggests that out of the 72 respondents, majority were able to access and find all the information they are looking for in the website easily. All the respondents agreed that the new website provides accurate data. However, 32 respondents are looking for the presence of the current annual report. Majority of the donors believe that the website does not provide any least useful information. And that all respondents see the website as transparent and this can possibly make them consider donating in the organization. The result clearly shows that the organization could get a better feedback by providing the latest annual report on time, by doing so the organization could be more accountable to their stakeholders. In conclusion, the new website proves to be an effective communication tool for the organization that promotes good governance that will help the organization to build a long term organization donor relationship. Through the long term organization donor relationship, there is a possibility that the donors will donate continuously and thus the organization will be able to continue their advocacy.
