Summary:Project Summary Description of the Project:To produce a food container made out of recycled papers to be used by fastfood chains to replace non-biodegradable containers.Nature of the Industry:UPPC is involved in the production of paper products, particularly flat papers used as cement grades, corrugating medium and other paper forms used primarily for industries. It uses bagassse, used paper, virgin pulp paper and other conventionally used paper fabrics. At present the company is undergoing an expansion and upgrading project to its production capacity and efficiency. The expansion project is funded by debt and equity with the debt component largely financed by the World Bank loan through the Development Bank of the Philippines. At present, the company has a capacity of producing 54,000 metric tons per year at an operating capacity of 88.00 percent. UPPC being one of the leaders in the Philippine paper industry is also involved in various research and development activities on paper use and paper materials.
