Description
Summary:Pulmonary diseases are the leading causes of morbidity in the Philippines. These diseases could have been prevented if detected and treated in its early stage. In detecting such diseases, medical experts typically use stethoscopes to help them identify pulmonary abnormalities. However, the number of medical experts in the Philippines is not enough to support remote areas for early identification of such abnormalities. Thus, this research presents the development of a system that performs lung sound analysis to identify possible pulmonary problems. Lung sound enhancement and feature extraction algorithms as well as the whole developing processes are discussed. The software performs noise reduction, heartbeat sound removal, lung sound feature extraction and classification. This research contributes in telemedicine by identifying possible pulmonary problems.
