Some provisions in the sin tax law of 2013 raise questions about its efficiency. Having an equal price for all brands of cigarettes may be inefficient for the government in the long run. Using the data gathered to estimate the demand curve and elasticity for low and high priced cigarettes, we will be able to properly recommend policies based from our results. The researchers discovered that implementing a uniform tax rate on all price groups of cigarettes would not be efficient in the long run.
