Female masculinity and emotion regulation as predictors among college female student athletes on verbal aggression

Sports have not only been dominated by men but women are already starting to make a mark in this field. The world of competitive sports brings about different positive and detrimental behaviours among athletes and an example of this trash talk or verbal aggression. This behavior is already prominent among men in the sporting world, the researchers looked into the possibilities that women also results to this kind of behavior. There are several factors that could influence this aggressive behaviour and based on literature female masculinity and emotion regulation are the outstanding factors for thrash talk. This study was done through a quantitative research method and the sample consisted of 105 female college student athletes from different participating university in the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines and NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). Both variables was seen to have predicting values to verbal aggression but female masculinity has the most greater value as compared to the other. Results, findings and further detailed implications are discussed in the entire research.
