Stories that tackle controversies about the country often capture people's attention, and corruption is unquestionable one of those. It is needless to say that in the Philippines, corruption is really rampant and it even comes in many forms. One of which is police corruption, which is more often than not given lesser attention compared to the kind of corruption happening in the national government. Bilanggo tells the story of a young police officer who is held captive by the rotten system as he attempts to stay the righteous person that he is. He aspires to be the bearer of truth and justice, just as how every policeman should be. However, everything starts to change once he realizes the truth about the system he is working for. This feature also revolves around the concept that the system is more powerful than the individual.
