Dela Roca, Kristina Teresa M. Itchon, Beatrice A. The construction industry, being one of the major contributors of waste in the Philippines, should initiate substantial steps in order to alleviate the current situation. Improving the condition in the construction industry would greatly affect the environmental status of the country. This paper evaluates Triple A Constructors in Metro Manila on whether they implement Environmental Programs within their companies as well as patterns of their execution. Environmental Assessment Tools were used to gauge their performance both on Management and Operational Level. The tools that served as the backbone for data gathering as well as analysis of this research paper are ISO 1400 and Green Construction Assessment. Both tools have parameters for management and operational performance merged to formulate a survey form. For the data gathering, the survey forms produces from the assessment tools were distributed to companies in Metro Manila Specified by PCAB to be triple A. This research focused on the patterns that measured the environmental policies and execution of the companies based from the two assessment tools. Benchmarks were also set both for the management and operational evaluation that determined whether the contractors could be considered ISO ready. The researchers utilized Artificial Neural Network to find patterns among the parameters from the survey form. A total of 144 models were structured by assessing all the parameters. Models with notable patterns were included in the presentation of data. Weights of the data were also specified for the models and statistical analysis was conducted to compute for the benchmark and set scores for the new parameters fit for Philippine setting. The study establishes a benchmark score for Management Performance Indicator and Operational Performance Indicator. Generally, the construction industry is lagging behind in the areas of Investment (MPI 3), Environment Management Program (MPI 4) and Research and Development (MP5) compared to the ISO 14000 certified companies. The critical parameters for the operational evaluation are air pollution control and noise pollution control. 2013-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11449 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Construction industry--Philippines Construction industry--Management Civil Engineering |
