Summary: | The different aspects of adoption search were studied in this research to gain more knowledge about adoption situations and what causes an adoptee to search. The objectives of the study are finding out the experiences of adoptees prior to searching and their influence to the adoptive search, and the outcomes of the reunion that included adjustment and identity. Seven Filipino adult adoptee respondents were interviewed in this research. Feelings of difference, incompleteness, and curiosity were found out in this study. Additional finding like feeling left out, social stigma, and jealousy surfaced. Emotions and thoughts of confusion, joy, and indifference were found out during the reunion of the adoptees mad birth parents. In this research, reunions do not always result to positive outcomes. This study also included implications and recommendations for future researchers, clinicians, birth, and adoptive families. |
