The majority of extant studies have focused its research on the negative life experiences of the homosexual and a need for the recognition of their strengths is necessary to facilitate them in developing a positive identity. Two surveys were administered to Filipino male homosexuals (N=60), an internet-based, self-report questionnaire measuring character strengths and an instrument to determine their well-being. Results revealed that gratitude, spirituality, capacity to love and be loved, citizenship and fairness were the top five common character strengths among them with participants scoring a high average of 30 (equivalent to highly satisfied) in the satisfaction of well-being of life scale. Qualitative studies done through interviews revealed additional strengths and contributory factors to these strengths along with manifestations, sources of well-being and additional needs of the male homosexual respondents. Creativity, verbosity and gender-role flexibility failed to appear as top strengths inconsistent to past findings. Results are discussed in light of literatures possibly related and responsible for the studies findings. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11538 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Coming out (Sexual orientation) Male homosexuality--Psychological aspects.
