But developing large communication networks involves big investment on technology. Developing complex internetworking communities needs routers to efficiently deliver datagrams to its destination efficiently and safely. This routers are the building blocks of self-regenerating networks. Constantly verifying if the network lines are safe for datagrams to travel and or come up with the shortest route for a certain destination. The potential of internetworking technology can bring about an immediate impact on education. But educational institutions are restrained from spending large sum of investments on this technology as they are often limited with measly budgets. The development of the PC Router can provide institutions like universities a less-expensive alternative to internetworking technologies. This PC-Router is developed to directly address the problems of portability and cost. This piece of software is to be developed based on the Open Systems Interconnection model. The router will specifically support Transmit Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) as it's operating network protocol. Designing the software based on this assumptions can make this router compatible with the Internet protocols. With this development, institutions planning to establish a connection to the Internet may be provided with a much less-expensive alternative in purchasing routers.
