Mascarinas, Anne Shirley V. Reyes, Ma. Ynez C. The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) is a government organization tasked to restore the Pasig River by cleaning the 47 tributaries that drain into Pasig River and by improving the quality of life of the communities near the tributaries (PRRC, 2014). To sustain PRRC's efforts in the tributaries and the communities, PRRC conducts Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) seminars for the residents in the communities surrounding the tributaries (PRRC, 2014). A comprehensive communication audit focused on Estero de Sampaloc revealed that PRRC's ESWM Seminar in Estero de Sampaloc was ineffective in communicating to the residents near the tributary the four ways of proper solid waste management as well as their roles and responsibilities in maintaining the rehabilitated state of the tributary, leading to the resident's poor comprehension and retention of proper solid waste management, the residents™ noncompliance with PRRC's recommended environmental behaviors, and ultimately making PRRC's efforts in the community unsustainable. With the conceptual framework and communication audit findings considered, the thesis project was formed to be a revamped ESWM seminar with various communication initiatives (i.e., flip-type poster as its visual aid, interactive game in the form of the PRRC Bingo, open forum, seminar evaluation form, slogan banners, calendar giveaways, and procedural manual). Pretests with PRRC and the target audience revealed that the thesis project is successful in improving the communication process of conveying proper solid waste management to Estero de Sampaloc residents because it was able to 1) facilitate interactivity and two-way communication, 2) consider formative research about the target audience's needs, preferences, and behavior determinants, 3) use various types of media, employed before and after the seminar, with a balance of text and visuals, and 4) emphasize that individual compliance would result to benefits for everyone in the community. 2015-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11568 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Refuse and refuse disposal--Philippines--Pasig City Recycling (Waste, etc.) Philippines.--Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission Communication
