Description
Summary:The present study was designed to investigate the effect of media on males' body image satisfaction. Collegiate males were purposively selected to form two groups. The Body Esteem Scale for males (BES) was administered these groups to measure their level of body image satisfaction. One group was exposed to the presence of TV commercials. Although both groups had the same two-week interval between their pretest and posttest, results showed that the males who viewed the TV commercials had a significant decrease in their body image satisfaction. Further analysis of this finding would point out to media's persuasive ability in affecting male's body image satisfaction.
