Summary:This study aims to give a profile of the people who patronize the French restaurant L'Eau Vive at Paco, Manila. Run by the missionaries of the Carmelite Order, this restaurant was considered one of the very few authentic French restaurants here in the Philippines by the French embassy in Manila. The researchers intend to find out if only those belonging to the upper and middle class of the Philippine society patronize L'Eau Vive. Discussions in the study focused on the social implications of patronizing French cuisine. The researchers found the relation between a persons social class and his or her preference in food, particularly in French food. By using income as the main variable, the researchers were able to find out the different social classes where the patronizers of L'Eau Vive belong. The researchers arrived at the said task by distributing survey questionnaires to 50 people who were dining at L'Eau Vive. These questionnaires were made in such a way that it will evolve around the income and preference of the respondent. The results were then cross-validated and analyzed using the theory of the sociology of food as the framework. With this, the researchers were able to conclude that only the people in the upper and middle class of society patronize L'Eau Vive.
