A study on the use of electric arc furnace (EAF) slag and lahar as aggregates for load-bearing concrete hollow blocks
This study focuses on the utilization of Lahar sand and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) slag as aggregates in manufacturing concrete hollow blocks. There was a study regarding the use of EAF slag as aggregate for making CHB. The slag CHB performed very well with respect to its compressive strength, howev...

There was a study regarding the use of EAF slag as aggregate for making CHB. The slag CHB performed very well with respect to its compressive strength, however, it attained higher weight values than commercial or ordinary CHB. This study's main objective is to reduce the weight of slag CHB by introducing lahar sand as fine aggregates instead of ordinary sand. In this study, weight and compressive strength values attained were compared to that of the slag CHB to determine the effect of using lahar sand instead of ordinary sand. Certain parameters and test requirements were followed in order to perform the experiments correctly. All tests were done after the 28th day of production (for curing) of the lahar-slag CHB specimens. The results of the study showed that for the 1:6 cement-aggregate ratio, the lahar-slag ratio of 85:15 had the least weight passing the PNS compressive strength requirement, while for the 1:10 cement-aggregate ratio, the lahar-slag ratio of 55:45 had the least weight passing the PNS compressive strength requirement. 1999-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11667 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
