Academic performance is traditionally modeled through employing an education production function where traditional labor and capital educational inputs are its determinants. However, Maimati and Sieberts (2009) showed that non-traditional factors such as menarche and water supply significantly affect academic performance. In this study, we obtained primary survey data from 283 grade school students in a public school in Paranaque, Philippines and examined for evidence as to whether differing conditions of sanitation facilities affect academic performance on the onset of menstruation. We find evidence of a drag on performance with a maximum of 4.07 points for students experiencing menarche and a 0.20 point joint effect of menarche and whose home and school facilities are largely different form each other. 2010-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11746 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
