Summary:Adolescence is a development stage where one can pursue a deeper and more meaningful relationship with a Higher Being. The present study is a qualitative investigation that describes the spiritual beliefs and practices of Filipino adolescents, the role of the socialization agents (parents, peers, and schools) in the facilitation of adolescent spirituality and, the outcomes of spirituality in adolescent relationships. Four focus group discussion are conducted with highly spirituality Filipino adolescents with ages ranging from 14 to 19 years old. Results from the thematic content analysis revealed that the beliefs and practices of the participating Filipino adolescents are greatly derived from the spiritual viewpoints of their parents, peers, and school. Findings also show that the adolescents sense of spirituality enable them to experience positive intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships that allow them to become socially engaged individuals who have the capacity to contribute to the common good. Implications regarding adolescent development are also discussed.
