Ligan, Regina Victoria L. Lim Hong, Haselyn Nicole A. Automated wheelchairs are classified as medical equipment and which undergo a lot of technological advancement nowadays. To cater specific purposes depending on the patients condition. The most common innovation includes the use of PC, the addition of an obstacle detection feature, the implementation of biometrics, etc. With this, the group designed a microcontroller-based automated wheelchair for quadriplegic persons which moves in accordance to the tilting of the head with an obstacle detection feature to provide safety measures for the user. The system used an accelerometer as the sensor for the tilting of the head, mounted on top of a headgear. The obstacle detection is implemented by placing infrared sensors at the sides and at the back of the wheelchair which restricts certain movements of the wheelchair prior to which sensor is triggered to prevent the wheelchair from any accident. All sensors are processed by a PIC16F877A microcontroller which then instructs the direction of movement of the wheelchair by controlling a set of relays for the motors. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11834 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository |
