Lai, Beverly Ann K. Paras, Mylyn R. Executive Summary. For school libraries with large numbers of patrons and with very high volume of labor-intensive transactions, it is natural to look into computers and technological advancements as a way out of the never-ending flow of tedious, repetitive tasks that librarians must do daily. The need for greater efficiency as their workload increases, the need for cooperation and sharing of resources among libraries, and the need to satisfy the information needs of the user community without the barriers of distance - all these concerns are directly addressed by LIS LIBNET. LIS LIBNET aims to link together the different cataloguing systems of different libraries. It is a system divided into two parts: a stand-alone library information system (LIS) and a web based distributed database search engine (LIBNET). The LIS is non-proprietary software designed to satisfy the standard needs of any educational institution without an existing automated library system. It has three (3) main modules that automate the three (3) main functions of a library-Cataloging, Circulation, Acquisition-with regards to book information only. The search function is provided for by the LIBNET application. LIBNET is a web-based application designed to access distributed relational databases over the Internet. These databases are the databases maintained by the LIS. In other words, schools/universities using the LIS of LIS LIBNET will automatically make their cataloguing database accessible to the Internet-meaning students and other users can browse through the records of books of all schools/universities using the LIS of LIS LIBNET even if they are at home, in the office, or some place else. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11998 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
