Description
Summary:Nickel (II) complexes are prepared by reacting two types of nickel salt with N,N'-dibenzylthiourea. Spectrophotometric analysis revealed that the addition of the ligand affected the absorption band at the max for both types of nickel salt. Spectrophotometric monitoring of the aging of the nickel nitrate solutions confirmed that the same species of the complex is involved in the solution. Aging slows down the completion of the reaction on titration with 10-3M sodium thiosulfate solution. But 4.42 ml is needed to reach the equivalence point of a 50 ml of 10-3M solution of nickel nitrate plus ligand. The potential at the equivalence point is 39.5 mV.
