Video Controlled Hand Mimicking System (VCHMS)

The simulation of human movements has always been of great interest especially in the field of animation, human-computer interaction (HCI) and robotic programming. The task of reconstructing hand movements however, brings with it a lot of considerations regarding accuracy and precision. The study de...

Uy, Glenn S. The simulation of human movements has always been of great interest especially in the field of animation, human-computer interaction (HCI) and robotic programming. The task of reconstructing hand movements however, brings with it a lot of considerations regarding accuracy and precision. The study develops a hand mimicking system that tracks and mimics hand movements. The system, called Video Controlled Hand Mimicking System (VCHMS), captures the hand movements and produces a simulated hand image imitating the movements done by the user. The system focuses on robotic programming applications. It intends to develop a way of reducing the trouble of programming robots. Since robotic programming is a tedious and time-consuming process, there is a need for a software that imitates hand gestures to easily configure robots. Aside from robotic programming, the hand mimicking system is intended for applications such as computer animation, virtual reality and hand recognition systems. The Video Controlled Hand Mimicking System is able to achieve 86% accuracy of mimicking the hand movements. 2006-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/14159 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer animation Virtual reality Video recordings--Production and direction Computer Sciences
