Description
Summary:Story telling, when used as a learning tool, can encourage children to explore their expressiveness by providing an environment that is suitable for children. Kid's Quest III is a story telling environment that converts the input story into animation. The system provides an environment where the children can type his story and it would be checked for spelling and grammatical errors. It handles eight sentence patterns and accepts an input story that can be composed of simple, compound and complex sentences. The semantics of the story will also be checked, specifically for scopal and referential ambiguities. After the story has been checked, it would then be processed and converted into its graphical interpretation. Instead of having floating motion, the dynamic images incorporate predefined movements such as walking and jumping. The predefined movements are limited, however, which is the reason the system uses both static and dynamic images in the animation of the story. The system was tested on the target age group specified in its research objective and results showed the children accepted the system.
