Description
Summary:The current and emerging popularity of different Database Management Systems (DBMS) have increased the need for good database middleware services. Middleware services enable computers to call or access functions residing on a remote computer. ABSORB is a middleware system that will make use of an Object Request Broker (ORB) to enable a client computer to query the database on the server. It is composed of an administrator tool that keeps track of the servers in the network the client application that provides the interface for the requesting computer the ORBs that provide communication among the system components and a server application that retrieves data from the database servers. For the system, the client application is a geographical information system. The client application will request data from different database servers through the ORB and represent the data as a map.
