Summary: | The study aims to pursue a significant way of locating personnel of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Aircraft movement Area (AMA). NAIA is the foremost airport facility in our country and there are a lot of vital sub-facilities inside an international airport which dictates how efficient the airport will operate on a daily basis. One of these facilities in NAIA is the AMA where the different aircrafts are to be seen. It is also where they are refueled and loaded with both their cargo and passengers.
The main objectives of the thesis were to implement a microcontroller-based GPS and GSM vehicle tracking system using GPS as a receiver and to implement a remote PC (personal computer) or laptop that would request the current coordinates of the GPS and be able to receive that data using GSM.
The study will eventually help the Airport Ground Operations and Safety Division (AGOSD) resolve their logistics problems. The AGOSD is in-charge with monitoring the position of the different aircrafts within the tarmac (AMA) and loading bays, assigning tasks to ground support and maintenance vehicles and altering their specific duties whenever needed. Also, the system would hopefully minimize safety hazards due to the fact that the system will introduce a more efficient way of managing and directing vehicle activities. |
