Description
Summary:Traffic congestion is a major problem in the Philippines. The MMDA mandated different rules and created schemes to avoid traffic congestions. Traffic simulators are used to plan and test these decongestions schemes before being implemented. So far existing traffic simulators yield different conclusions in comparison to the real implementations of infrastructures. The failure of the traffic simulators to be consistent with the traffic situations in Metro Manila is because of drivers in Metro Manila apparently do not follow the rules and regulations imposed by the government (Reyes, 2005). This research intends to study the existing traffic in Metro Manila, and simulate it when the behavior of the drivers in the area based on surveys and interviews from them. The simulation could be a basis of the traffic flow in the Philippines in which decongestion schemes could be improved with the use of this research.
