Description
Summary:Cost being a huge factor to be considered before doing anything should be as cheap yet effective and efficient as possible. The study aims to implement a power efficient lighting system using Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) protocol. This system is a method of controlling light fixtures in a space ranging from single rooms to multiple buildings. Furthermore, the group endeavors to unify the DALI's low voltage communication wires and its power supply wires into a single line through the help of the concept of power line communication. With that, low voltage wires used in signal transmission can be eliminated by using the power lines as substitute. Besides, the power consumption of the ballast can be lessened with the aid of the DALI through dimming. Given these, the cost of operation and implementation of the lighting and wiring system will be greatly reduced. Aside from that, the proposed system offers convenience to the building management because it can control the lights automatically through scheduling, occupancy, and daylight sensing. Lastly, the study provides a GUI that helps the user visualize how much he or she will be able to save in terms of cost by using the proposed system.
