Description
Summary:The study aims to automate the sorting process of shrimps done at Ocean Light Import Export Corporation. The company is currently using manual way of sorting the shrimps based on its sizes. This kind of procedure was found to be inconsistent and inaccurate due to human errors caused by the repetitive process. The objective of the study was to build a prototype shrimp sorting machine that is based on its weight. The prototype consists of a conveyor, a weighing machine and a slider designed for sorting. The group conducted different experiments to prove the accuracy and reliability of the machine and results showed a more than acceptable level of sorting black tiger shrimps. The prototype was able to sort the shrimps accurately and efficiently compared to manual sorting. Furthermore, the study provided a tool that could eliminate 3 workers doing three different sorting processes. The machine also helped the company lessen their expenses incurred for hiring professional workers.
