Description
Summary:The proponents of this study aim to present the design and fabrication of a prototype programmable palletizing robot. A palletizing robot is a mechanism designed to perform materials handling functions in some manufacturing operations. It is usually mounted near a conveyor system where it picks up a box and places it in a pallet, thus, prepares it for transport to the storage area or the next operation. Specifically, this prototype palletizing robot has four (4) degrees of freedom: gripper rotation, outer arm rotation, base rotation and the inner arms vertical translation. A programming language was used to control and monitor the movements of the robot. Moreover, the communication between the robot and the computer was channeled through the printer port.
