Description
Summary:This study aims to manufacture an Automated Storage and Retrieval System with sorting and point-to-point travel. As an automated inventory handling system, this AS/RS has the capability to retrieve inventory items at point-to-point travel and provide transport for storage and retrieval. The AS/RS would consist of mechanical carrier, a shelf rack, electronic circuit and computer interface. The rack would contain 38 slots with 36 (6 by 6) bins and 2 blank slots for the retrieval purposes. The carrier initially would be in its default position awaiting for a command from the computer this said command would then be processed by the program code. For every operation from the user, the x & y axes will move first and upon reaching the desired area the z-axis would then get and lift up the bin and place it on the blank slot/s. For the sorting operation, if the SORT command is selected, the AS/RS will arrange the most frequently/rarely used boxes and will place them near the base of the mechanical carrier for better accessibility.
