Description
Summary:Borrowing equipment in the laboratories can sometimes be tedious and inconvenient due to the process. RFID system will allow the process of borrowing equipment easy, fast and reliable. In this project, students can do their own transactions, with simple procedure, and at the same time not compromise the security of the equipment. The system is implemented using an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) RFID Reader. It can detect the tagged equipment simultaneously within a certain range making it more convenient for students. The borrower then confirms the equipment borrowed by clicking the OK button on the computer screen. The security feature of the borrowing system comprises of an antenna which is installed at the exit door. The antenna is part of the RFID reader which is connected to the database to check if the equipment that passes through has been checked out. An alarm is triggered to alert the personnel in charge in the laboratory when a person tries to bring out the equipment without checking it out. The list of equipment from the database can be viewed through the web. This allows borrowers to view equipment available in the laboratory and to view summary of their borrowed equipments.
