Chua, Erika Franz T. Francisco, Bianca Remedios M. Santos, Ysabel Kathryn M. In the Philippines, establishing one’s own family business has been widespread and quite a trend these days. Some of these family owned firms has deemed to be successful and has been passed on from one generation to another. But like any other business, family owned business also experience conflicts within the workplace. Since families are I included in the workplace , conflicts in family business tend to be more complex and hard to understand. By this, the study aims to know if there are significant relationships between the conflict resolution strategies used by the business owners to the family and business outcomes. To reach this objective, the researchers conducted surveys that are addressed to the owners of family business. The substances of these surveys are baked up through the content of the Review of the Related Literature (RRL). Under the RRL, the definition of Family Business, Conflicts, Family and Business Outcomes, Conflict Resolution Strategies (CRS), and their relationships were expounded for the readers to understand the topics mentioned further. In the Conceptual Framework, a better visual of the relationships and the breakdown of the variables of the study were shown. Also, in this chapter, assumptions and hypotheses of the researchers were introduced. Un the next chapter of the study, the researchers pointed out that the research is a descriptive study and compiled the general information sheets (GIS) of the said firms as basis for knowing ownership. From the data collected, the researchers used Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient to determine if there is a relationship between the CRS and family and business outcomes. The results of Business Outcomes showed a positive relationship to Competition, Accommodation and Avoidance and negative relationship towards Collaboration and Compromise. On the other hand, Competition, Compromise and Avoidance showed a positive relationship towards Family Outcomes while Collaboration and Accommodation resulted to a negative relationship. The relationship of Business Outcome and Competition was the only significant relationship as presented through the results. For the most used conflict resolution strategy, results show that most family business owners in the sample practiced compromise. By the conclusion achieved by the researchers, they recommend that further improvement to future studies can be done such as obtaining a larger sample size and focusing on one industry at a time so that more accurate results can be obtained. The proponents also advised that future researchers could look into the company size of the company whether or not the number of employees affects the family and business outcome of the family owned company. 2011-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/14771 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository
