Summary: | This paper describes the integration of Global Positioning System-Global System for Mobile (GPS-GSM) vehicle tracking, Barcode Technology, Graphical User Interface (GUI), and Database management to come up with a system that would help business industries by optimizing delivery schedule, to monitor delivery vehicles and to avoid delays and undelivered goods of products.
The GPS Barcode technology were well integrated in the car module to gather delivery data such as driver ID, time, date, coordinates, and status. With GSM as the mode of communication, the car module was successfully interfaced into a GUI with an internal database. This integration paved way to the development of a system that is composed of authentication, tracking, monitoring and schedule optimization. All of the necessary data were stored in a database for it to be processed in the GUI for optimization. With the use of the modified Kruskal's algorithm and running average for travel time, the result of the study showed that schedule can be optimized through time as historical data have shown that the schedule becomes more efficient through several iterations. |
