Description
Summary:This thesis aims to implement a tracking system that will be installed inside the public utility bus and will send the distress signal to the police stations located along the route of the bus. The device is divided into two parts the transmitter module which will be installed inside the bus, and the receiver module which will be installed in the police stations. The transmitter module carries with it a programmed microcontroller that selects the data from the GPS module and feeds these data to the UHF transceiver for transmission. On the receiving end, the data passes through the MAX232 which converts TTL level to RS232 level for the computer. Finally the data from the system will be displayed in the graphical user interface (GUI) which is created using Microsoft Visual Basic. The GUI displays the coordinates of the transmitter, the time of transmission, as well as the name plate of the bus for identification. Using internet services, the GUI will also display the location of the transmitter on a map. Google map is used for this project to display the location of the transmitter.
