Computer-based approach on tiling deficient rectangular boards with trominoes

Summary: | The study involves the tiling of deficient rectangular boards with the use of trominoes. The researchers work on the assumption that not all sizes of rectangles can be tiled with trominoes. A proof is constructed to determine what possible sizes of rectangles can be tiled. The approach used in tiling is based on a computer program using the Turbo Pascal 5.5 language. The users are given the chance to input their desired size of the rectangle. The computer program analyzes the input to determine if the desired size of the rectangle can be tiled. Messages are being sent across the screen to help the users in tiling. This study provides an interplay between the mathematics subject and the computer subject. |
