Markov chains: Theory and model for a hospital ward
A Markov process is a stochastic process for which it is possible to deduce the future development of the process from the knowledge of the present state. As such, it is useful in decicion making involving various operational aspects of an organization such as production, service and maintenance. In...

A Markov process is a stochastic process for which it is possible to deduce the future development of the process from the knowledge of the present state. As such, it is useful in decicion making involving various operational aspects of an organization such as production, service and maintenance. In this study, the authors illustrate the use of the theory of Markov chains in the bed occupancy problem faced by Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital. A Markov chain model is developed to provide bed occupancy statistics such as the rate of bed occupancy, expected number of beds occupied, variability of the distribution and the probability of going over the bed capacity. 1984-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/15985 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Markov chains Hospital wards--Mathematical models |
