Description
Summary:This study determines the effectivity of the queueing system of the PAL common check-in section at the Manila International Airport. The arrival of passangers and service processes were observed for one whole week. With the arrival and service time distributions constructed, these were subjected to the Chi-square test to determine if the said distributions were exponential but the result was negative. In addition, the mean arrival rate is greater than the mean service rate resulting to queue explosion. With these conditions of the system, a two-server model was simulated. One server uses a computer with the same service rate as that which was observed in PAL while the other does not but have varying service rates. A model with the second server having three halves the service time as that of the first server is found to be the best system with the optimum cost involved.
