This paper is an exposition of an article entitled The Shape of e by Mary Coughlin published in Mathematics Magazine (Vol. 62, No. 1, Feb. 1989).Since the invention of e by the Greeks during the 1700's the question of what its geometric representation looks like has not yet been answered. The association of n with the circle makes a clearer representation of what the concept means and a supportive justification of its importance. The irrational number e is not closely identified with a definite geometric shape making its vague existence now even further from clarity. The purpose of this thesis is to identify and associate a definite geometric entity with the base e of the natural logarithm. This paper is focused on finding a geometric representation or shape of the base e of the natural logarithm. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16095 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Mathematics--Formulae Mathematics--Problems, exercises, etc. Geometry, Analytic Conic sections |
