Julian, Joanna P., Yam, Genevieve M., Engagement in sports entails more than skills and strength. Coach's motivation must also be present in order to bring out the best in every athlete. This paper tackles the different ways by which coaches motivate their athletes, the variables accounting for the difference in the motivation techniques, the theories of motivation underlying in the coach's technique, and the implicit techniques that are believed to be Filipino. An exploratory-descriptive study was conducted to be able to come up with a pattern from the respondent's answers. Purposive sampling was employed to get hold of interviewees which would suit our study's purpose. Nineteen coaches from Metro Manila coming from De La Salle University, Xavier School, Antioch San Jose, Antioch San Antonio, Alabang Country Club, Corinthian Gardens', Philippine Basketball Association, Philippine BasketbalLeague. The interview sessions were aided by an interview guide and a tape recorder. The responses were qualitatively analyzed since they are about their views, opinions, ideas, and personal experiences. From the data gathered, it showed that the Filipino coaches employ techniques that are also found among American coaches. The only difference there is that Filipino coaches use pakonsiyensiya , instilling hiya among athletes. Furthermore, from the findings it showed that Filipino coaches use the following approaches: 1) Kinokonsiyensya 2) Reinforcement 3) Scientific Approach 4) Work-Play Technique. 1992-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16193 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Coaching (Athletics) Sports--Psychological aspects Motivation (Psychology) x2 Motivation in sports
