This exploratory study aimed to portray the coping strategies of six lesbian couples who have been going on with their relationship for at least one year. Presented were the characteristics of the lesbian relationship and the couples' coping strategies in relation to their social interactions and the kinds of reactions that they get from their families, friends, co-workers, and other people. Data were obtained through in-depth interview with the use of an interview guide which consisted of two parts namely the demographic file and the interview proper. The results focused on the lesbian couple's: (1) discovery of sexual preference, (2) coming out, (3) societal reactions (4) societal interactions, (5) characteristics of lesbian relationship and (6) coping strategies. The researchers concluded that the characteristics of a stable lesbian relationship vary according to the perspective under which they belong. These characteristics are forms of coping strategies in themselves. Furthermore, they determine the kinds of social relationships that are to be formed by the lesbian couple with the different segments of the society. 1994-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16209 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Coping behavior Lesbian couples Interpersonal relations Sexual ethics
