Description
Summary:This study presents the causes and effects of separation among middle class women in Metro Manila. The coping strategies of these women were also obtained. The variables were classified into two, namely-antecedents (the socio-demographic profile, the dynamics of marriage relationship, and the factors which led to separation), and consequences (the coping mechanisms, the social, economic, and psychological effects). Data were gathered on the basis of in-depth interviews of thirty separated women classified as belonging to middle class. Snowball sampling was employed for the selection of subjects. Results indicated that most of the women were able to recover from the separation and they are willing to engage into a new relationship. For those who had a long marriage duration prior to separation prefer to remain unattached.
