Description
Summary:This thesis paper shows how mathematical concepts may be applied to a billiard game. When hit by the cue stick, the billiard ball traces a path which is studied so that patterns can be analyzed for the purpose of predicting in which pocket the billiard ball will fall. Originally, the billiard table will have four pockets at the corners and will be shot from the lower left pocket. Then extensions of the original four pocket table shall be considered and studied in order to consider the case where pockets occur not only at the corners. Mathematical concepts from Geometry and Abstract Algebra were found useful in making this study. The article by Thomas Ray Hamel and Ernest Woodward entitled Developing Mathematics On a pool table served as basic material in developing this paper.
