| Summary: | This study focused on the changes, problems, coping mechanisms, and facilitating and hindering factors experienced by thirty teenage fathers, aged 13-19 years old. They come from the three socio-economic classes namely: lower, middle and upper classes. They were distributed as follows: ten from the lower class, ten from the middle class and ten from the upper class, all from Metro Manila. They all had at least one child upon interview, whether married or not. The respondents were obtained through the chain-referral or snow-ball technique. They were either referred by the former respondents or the friends of the researchers. An interview guide was used for the in-depth interviews. Based on the data gathered from the in-depth interviews, it was found that the socio-economic classes affect the experiences of the teenage fathers. The most significant difference among the respondents lies in the financial aspect of their lives. The lower class had a more difficult time coping with the changes and problems, due to financial reasons, than those coming from the middle and upper classes. |
