Thumbmark Recognition System is a prototype implementation of an automated fingerprint identification system that allows scanning and processing of a thumbprint to compare it with other previously stored thumbprints in database in order to get information about its owner. A thumbprint was obtained by using a handheld scanner and analyzed through image processing techniques like image enhancement, centering and thinning to look for the minutiae that will be used for comparison with other thumbprints in the database. If a match was found, the information about the owner of the thumbprint will be displayed, otherwise the thumbprint and information about its owner is allowed to be added to the database. Viewing and modification of information associated with a thumbprint is also allowed by entering its code number. Deletion could be performed if an authorized thumbprint was identified. From the test cases that were performed, it was observed that the comparison algorithm implemented has a good probability in matching different scanned images of the same thumbprint impression. On the other hand, it has a low probability of matching different impressions of the same thumbprint. Proper taking of thumbprints should be observed in order for the comparison process to succeed. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16375 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer vision Pattern recognition systems Thumbprints Computer systems
