Summary:The Diagnostic Expert System on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD-EXPERT) is developed in response to the call for the rapid dissemination of the expert's knowledge to the other people in the medical field whose knowledge regarding sexually transmitted diseases are only limited. With the STD-Expert, the valuable knowledge of the few STD Experts maybe made available by the general medical practitioners. The group's concept of the Expert System on Sexually Transmitted Diseases is one which places emphasis on the diagnostic process. For the system tries to perform its function in as much as the same way as a true STd expert perform its diagnosis to its patients. The system also provides the user to update its knowledge bases because it cannot be denied that as time goes on additional facts regarding STD needs to be added to the system to make sure that the system can be adaptible to the changing needs of time. The system is also capable of providing information to its users. It is believed that through the three main modules that the system is capable of performing it would be able to attain its primary objective which is to disseminate knowledge of the few STD experts to other medical specialists. The group's efforts also seek that doctors and health personnels working in health centers as well as medical apprentice maybe made aware of the increasing importance of knowing how to cure STD patients. Along with it they may also make use of the system to aid them in their diagnosis of STD patients. Furthermore, it is hoped that through the development of the system, others would be encouraged to make further research in this field which is becoming of great importance to our society.
