Summary: | The general objective of this study is to design and develop a Micromouse (robot) that will map and solve a given maze. Micromouse will first map the actual maze, afterwards, it will find its way out of the maze. The Micromouse, like any other robot system shall be composed of an electrical and mechanical subsystem. It shall have ultrasonic transducers to detect the presence of walls. These sensors will in turn report to the CPU, which will perform all the evaluations and computations, with the software program written in Z80 assembly language. Actions or movements can then be initiated when the CPU sends pulses informing the stepper motors to carry out particular movements. Micromouse will repeat such operations until the exit is reached, which is its ultimate objective. The path which will be chosen will be the shortest one among all available paths. Therefore, even if a longer path would require a lesser time to cross, still the shorter one will be chosen since the basis for finding the solution is distance and not time or speed. |
