| Summary: | This research is an exposition of the paper Commutativity of Polynomials by Shamuel Avital and Edward Barbeau published in the College Mathematics Journal in November 1992. It aims to present necessary and sufficient conditions for commutativity of linear and some nonlinear polynomial functions. Moreover, conditions under which polynomial function of degree of at most three commute with their derivatives are given. In the process, Tchebyshev polynomials are introduced and shown to be commutative. |
