Description
Summary:Several years back, amateur astronomers had only two main tools, namely telescopes and an assortment of books. Now, powerful desktop computers and astronomy software have added a whole new perspective to man's study of the universe. VIRTUAL SKY or VSKY is a scientific tool for astronomy enthusiasts in exploring the solar system. Aside from being able to simulate planetary motion, a little language have been provided to allow users to specify or alter view settings. Users can specify the size and speed of the bodies to be viewed. The date can also be specified and this will be reflected in the positions of the planets . The system also has its own editor where VSKY commands can be edited. The main objectives of this study is to make systems for astronomy more accessible to the Filipino people and to start a trend in the advancement of the study of astronomy in the country. VIRTUAL SKY can be viewed as a simple working model of our solar system.
